Video premiere: my education final video from 5 Popes reissue released today





Austin post-rock act my education has released the final video from their 5 Popes reissue that dropped in February on Beat Imprint Records. The entire album was remastered for the re-release. The video was made for the song, "Deep Cut" which originally was released in 2004 on Thirty Ghosts Records. Where else can music fans start the year by seeing hundreds of local bands at venues throughout the city without paying cover charge? The fantastic Austin live music tradition each January simply called Free Week continues unabated at select clubs through Saturday. In addition to some new bands on the schedule that did not perform last week, you also have a chance to catch local acts you might have missed last week at no charge. SxSW music preview: Austin bands are gearing up for the festival next month

Austin, Texas has always been a special place for music. From the city's humble beginnings, art, music and culture have been woven into the fabric of resident's lives. Next month Austin renews the tradition of throwing open the gates of the Live Music Capital to the rest of the world to see. It is called, SxSW Interactive, Film and Music Festival. Whew. We get tired just saying the name, let alone trudging across downtown for 10 days chasing after the elusive new sound it seems all are seeking.

Live music preview: FFF Fest 6 | My Education | Reggie Watts | Danzig Legacy

Fun Fun Fun Fest 6 is this weekend which means Austin's best progressive music festival is about to kick off the first three full day event in it's history. Several notable additions to the festival include a new venue, Auditorium Shores (previously at Waterloo Park), Nites aftershows, and an iPhone app. Festival producers, Transmission Entertainment have made the aftershows free for 3-day pass holders.
